roots / جذور: From Baltimore to Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran brings together artists and organizers at the Compound in Baltimore for a two-day public festival of art, music, and educational workshops. On Saturday, April 11, between 5 – 9 PM, visual artists will share and sell their work. The evening will also feature free live performances by Ami Dang and Konjur Collective. On Sunday, April 12, between 12 – 3 PM, organizations United Workers, Baltimore Artists Against Apartheid, Malaya Baltimore, and Anakbayan UMBC will offer workshops and teach-ins related to organizing, arts, archives, and the ongoing struggle for Palestinian liberation. The events on both days will be broadcast live by Transceiver Radio.
All participating artists and vendors will independently donate a portion of their proceeds to ongoing mutual aid efforts in these countries.
