Say It Louder: Juneteenth & Pride Open Mic and Art Gathering
A community centered Juneteenth and Pride Month event in Brooklyn for Black creatives, LGBTQ community members, artists, and neighbors.
Join us on June 20 at Saint James Libations, a Black owned wine bar in Brooklyn, for an evening of live music, poetry, storytelling, and connection. This gathering brings together Juneteenth energy, Pride Month celebration, and the creative spirit of New York City.
If you are a Black creative, LGBTQ community member, artist, musician, writer, performer, or someone looking for a place where people are open to meeting each other, you belong here. Many people come alone. Most leave knowing someone.
The Art Meetup is self funded and community supported. Donations directly help pay for venue rentals, art and craft supplies, sound equipment, permits, signage, volunteer support, and the many costs involved in creating welcoming spaces where artists, musicians, and neighbors can gather, connect, and share their work.
Expect live music, poetry, spoken word, good conversation, food, wine, and a room full of people who are ready to listen and ready to connect. There is no pressure to perform or network. Some people take the mic. Some people sit back and take in the room. Everyone is part of the atmosphere.
People have met collaborators, creative partners, friends, dates, and future roommates at these gatherings. Some simply leave feeling less alone than when they arrived. If you have been looking for a Juneteenth event in NYC that feels intimate, intentional, and rooted in community, this is your invitation.

The first wave of voices takes the mic. Expect honesty, vulnerability, and powerful storytelling as the room settles into listening and witnessing.
