What makes this different from other NYC open mics?

People actually talk to each other here. It feels less like performing for strangers and more like being part of a creative community. A lot of people come alone and leave with new friends, collaborators, or plans to see each other again.

What kinds of performances are welcome?

Music, poetry, spoken word, storytelling, comedy, and other creative expressions are all welcome. Whether it's your first time on stage or your hundredth, there's space for you here.

How do I sign up to perform?

There is a performer sign up form in the event description. Filling it out helps us plan the lineup, but you can also check in when you arrive. Spots are limited, so early sign ups are encouraged.

What is the vibe like?

Friendly, relaxed, and low pressure. No awkward networking. No pressure to perform. Just good people, creative energy, and room to be yourself. Separate outdoor 4/20 friendly patio section.

How long are performance slots?

Most performers receive about 4 minutes. Timing may vary depending on the number of sign ups. Contact @iamhamadamir on IG to send your music in early.

What time should I arrive?

Accepted Answer

Doors open at 2 PM for set up if you want to help volunteer your time. We will have open crafts at 3PM and the open mic begins at 4 PM. Arriving early gives you time to settle in, secure a sear, grab a drink, meet people, and sign up to perform.

What should I bring?

Just bring yourself. If you're performing, bring whatever you need for your set. If you're attending, bring an open mind and a willingness to connect. Crafts and scketooks are also welcomed here. Make use of the energy in this creative room.

Will there be equipment available?

Yes. A microphone and basic sound setup will be available.

What happens if I don't get a performance slot?

Accepted Answer

You are still part of the night. Some of the best conversations, connections, and discoveries happen off stage. There will be future opportunities to perform as well.

Do I have to perform to attend?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. Plenty of people come to listen, support artists, meet new people, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Can I support even if I can't attend?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Contributions help cover DJ costs, venue costs, supplies, equipment, volunteer support, and the many behind the scenes expenses that make these gatherings possible.
