Where is the Woodacre Barn and where do you park?

Accepted Answer

When we meet in Woodacre, you will park on Elm Avenue in Woodacre and walk 5 minutes up the hill to the barn. Directions will be sent. To check timing for your drive, use the address #1 Elm Ave, Woodacre, CA, and add 5 min for the walk. Limited mobility guests should email for accessibility help.

Where is the San Antonio Road barn and where do you park?

The Petaluma Pasture of Friendly Trails Rescue and Sanctuary is at a private ranch in between Novato & Petaluma, San Antonio Road exit. You will park along the road (which is a dead end and has very little traffic (only us). Walk into the driveway to the barn area to find the class and the herd.

Are children welcome?

The class is designed for teens and adults, though children aged 9-14 are welcome with a parent/guardian. Children should be kept at the side of the adult and supervised by the adult. Youth aged 15 and older are welcome with signed release by parent. Email for more info about youth attending.

Question 4

What liability forms are required?

Accepted Answer

If this is your first visit this year, you will need to do liability forms. Please use the link in your email to print and complete forms at home and bring them with you. Also, complete medical info on the link provided. Minors will need a legal guardian signature on the forms.

Question 5

Is this event accessible to participants with limited mobility?

Accepted Answer

We can accommodate 2 limited mobility students. The class is in a gravel/muddy corral with uneven footing. We have a large gate and a flat area where a wheelchair or even just a regular chair can be placed for participation or observation--please RSVP with an email for more information.

Question 6

How can I donate to the Horse Rescue?

Accepted Answer

Horses are expensive in this area. All financial support is appreciated. We accept VenMo, checks, and cash. You can also donate by purchasing on Eventbrite with your credit card, though you will need to pay the fees to Eventbrite instead of to the herd. All forms of donation are welcome!

I love horses and I want to volunteer. How do I find out more?

We LOVE our volunteers. They literally join our herd. Some volunteers help care for the horses, and some help with fundraising, social media, nonprofit management, merch creation and sales. If you have time and interest, please email us to find out more. friendlytrailsrescue@gmail.com

What if my friends or family would like to join me?

Please bring them along. All are welcome (kids must be 9 and older). Please just be sure to have all guests complete the paperwork (links above and in the reminder emails which are 5 days, 3 days, 1 day, and a few hours before.)

How should I dress for this event?

Accepted Answer

Dress as if for a gentle hike with sturdy closed shoes. Bring hiking sticks if you use them. Wear layers that are dirt and horse hair friendly. Leave your dogs and umbrellas at home. A water bottle, snack, and sun protection are recommended.

Is there a restroom at the barn?

Accepted Answer

We have a rough composting camp toilet, so it's a good idea to stop on your way to take care of business. In Woodacre, our composting toilets are much nicer and almost everyone is comfortable using them. Bottom line (pardon the pun) you can take care of business if needed.

Do you have scholarships for attending this event?

Accepted Answer
