The concert opens with Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, a beautifully textured work that highlights the warmth and expressiveness of the string section. Next, acclaimed violinist Miranda Isbitts takes center stage in Glazunov’s Violin Concerto, a dazzling Romantic showpiece filled with rich melodies and brilliant technique. The performance culminates with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, a triumphant and joy‑filled symphony that helped usher in the composer’s middle period.
