Overview

Dive into Monteverdi’s world where love’s sweet pain and dawn’s glow meet in stunning live music vibes.

Dawn & Death - A Monteverdi Madrigal Night on the Bittersweetness of Love

You're invited to Adoro Ensemble's annual May-drigal (Madrigal of May) project!

At the threshold between night and day, love reveals its most fragile truths.
In Dawn & Death, Adoro Ensemble invites audiences into an intimate journey through the madrigals of Claudio Monteverdi, music that breathes with human longing, vulnerability, and transformation.

Monteverdi’s madrigals stand at the turning point of Western music history, where the Renaissance gives way to the expressive intensity of the Baroque. In these works, the human voice becomes theatre: desire trembles in dissonance, joy shimmers in radiant harmony, and grief unfolds in silence as much as in sound. Through vivid text painting and daring emotional contrasts, Monteverdi captures the fleeting nature of love: its ecstasy, its torment, and its inevitable passage into memory.

Rooted in Adoro Ensemble’s mission to bridge cultures, eras, and spiritual traditions, Dawn & Death offers Monteverdi’s timeless human drama as a mirror for our own lives: reminding us that in every ending lies the possibility of transformation, and in every silence, the promise of new light.
