The Evacuation Plan Your Family Will Actually Use

The Evacuation Plan Your Family Will Actually Use

Online event
Overview

Build a real household evacuation plan — covering zones, go-signals, pets, medications, and family coordination — that works under pressure.

Your family has a fire escape plan for your house. Do you have one for your city?

Most families don't. They assume they'll figure it out when the time comes. But "figure it out" is not a plan. It's a gamble.

About This Workshop

Join Brandi Richard Thompson, former federal emergency management official with more than 20 years coordinating disaster response for over 50 million people, for a free 60-minute live session on building an evacuation plan your family will actually remember and use.

In two decades of federal service, Brandi watched families with good intentions and no plan try to make real-time decisions under maximum stress. Where do we meet if we get separated? Which route do we take if the main road is closed? Who picks up the kids if we can't get to the school? Who has the pet carriers? Where are we going, and does anyone there know we're coming?

These decisions are not hard. But they are impossible to make clearly at 2 AM with smoke in the air and your kids asking what's happening.

The families who evacuated calmly had one thing in common: they had practiced. Not once. Not perfectly. But enough that their bodies knew what to do before their brains caught up. This session will help you build that kind of plan.

What You Will Learn in This Session

  • The three questions every evacuation plan must answer (and most don't)
  • How to build two evacuation routes and a reunion plan your family can execute without cell service
  • The 10-minute evacuation decision tree that replaces panic with action
  • Why practicing your plan once is worth more than perfecting it on paper
  • How the Operation Prepare Emergency Plans section turns "we should probably have a plan" into a system your family has rehearsed

Who This Is For

  • Families who have never sat down and talked through "what would we actually do"
  • Parents who want their children to feel safe and know what to do, not scared and confused
  • People who live in wildfire, earthquake, hurricane, or flood zones and know an evacuation order could come any season
  • Multigenerational households or families with members who need extra support during an emergency

After the Workshop

Attendees will receive a special link to download the Operation Prepare Starter Kit (free) and a limited-time offer on the full Family Legacy Binder system.
