Come together in a hosted and supportive space to express thoughts and feelings around the current collective experience of being Latine.

Overview: Come together in a supportive space to express thoughts and feelings around the current collective experience of being a part of the Latine community. In the current climate, we feel it in our hearts that there is a need to meet in kinship, share, and bear witness with others who have a shared lineage.


Time: 2p-330p


Location: Portland Gathering Space (to be shared after registering) on native land of Clackamas, Stl’pulmsh (Cowlitz), Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla


Value Exchange:

  • $5-15 suggested donation to help cover the space
  • Remaining proceeds will be donated to https://www.latnet.org/
  • Once you register for free you may venmo (@Jane-Messersmith), Zelle (jsm044@bucknell.edu) or note that you will bring cash day of - please include your email address that you register with as the note in your digital payment

Our Collective Goals for Coming Together:

  • A space to be yourself through any combination of speaking, listening, and showing up
  • Feeling your emotions and expressing your thoughts alongside others through shared experience
  • A chance to let your nervous system rest through breathwork and meditation
  • Experience a drumming limpia to help cleanse and protect our spirits
  • The opportunity to push out love to our community members who are hurting and need support through meditation
  • Finding community and individuals who may be supportive for you after our time together


Please Bring: something meaningful to you that will be added to a collective altar to help us hold space together (i.e. flowers, photos, food/spices, book). You will be taking your items back home with you after our time together.

Each Attendee Will Strive for the Following While Gathering:

  • Respect
  • Compassion
  • Sensitivity to keep what is shared to this space only
  • Providing space for others to share and speak and waiting for our turn to share
  • Holding space without providing our own sense of right or solutions; we may ask one another if sharing a resource feels appropriate before doing so or connecting afterwards during the time set aside for socializing
