Session 1 – Introduction to ChatGPT & AI for Artists & Scholars (April 28)

Focus: Understanding AI fundamentals, ChatGPT’s capabilities, and crafting your first effective prompts. How can AI serve you and your business?

Focus: Moving from basic queries to structured, multi-step prompt design.

  • Design a basic AI agent blueprint for your pracrtice or business.

About the instructor:

Timothy V. Norris is a Seattle-based educator, IT professional, and arts leader dedicated to helping creative organizations thrive through innovation and sustainable technology. He began his career as a music educator in the public school system and currently serves as Artistic Director of the Rainbow City Concert Band and leads Creating Capabilities, his consulting practice that supports nonprofits in implementing technology, digital systems, and AI tools for business sustainability and mission-driven community impact.

A seasoned IT professional, Timothy has served as Senior IT Director at Seattle Repertory Theatre and Deputy IT Director and Digital Marketing Manager at ACT Theatre, where he modernized operations, guided digital transformations, and developed technology-driven creative workflows. His consulting portfolio includes cloud migrations, cybersecurity best practices, CRM and database integrations, and AI literacy training for arts administrators and educators.

As an experienced instructor, Timothy has taught across disciplines, most recently at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin, Ireland, where he integrated digital tools and collaborative learning into traditional music education. He also worked with the Dublin Concert Band while in Irleand and has served in multiple leadership roles at Southern Methodist University and Ohio University, where he combined instruction in music, media, and technology.

With over two decades of experience spanning IT systems, arts management, and education, Timothy specializes in helping mission-driven organizations and creative professionals harness technology with purpose and in collaboration–empowering them to operate efficiently, tell their stories effectively, and build sustainable futures.
