I'm a small local business owner. You don't get a guide reading a script someone else wrote. You get me, an experienced, professional guide, former history teacher, lifelong student of the city, food, art, travel, and storytelling, & someone committed to delivering excellence and unique experiences

I've lived in Philly a long time, will I still learn something new?

Accepted Answer

Of course! We've lived here most of our lives, devour history, and still learn new things or hear new stories regularly. What sets our tours apart from the competition is the art of storytelling. We don't just throw a bunch of facts at you. We explain the WHY and HOW and the impact of things.

Question 3

What happens if it's raining, thundering & lightning, or extremely hot.

Accepted Answer

We don't cancel tours for drizzle or light rain. We do not cancel for heat (or cold) unless it becomes dangerous. Thunder & lightning, depending on forecast, may force cancellation. We issue refunds, no questions asked, up to 24 hours prior to events. After that, please contact us to discuss options

Question 4

Is the tour suitable for people with limited mobility, wheelchairs, strollers, etc.,?

Accepted Answer

This is a three-point eight-mile walking tour of Philadelphia. Participants who can manage that distance over three hours with 25 or so stops for a few minutes are all welcome. If you have specific concerns or questions, please contact us and we'll be happy to discuss your specific concerns.

Question 5

Do we go inside any of historic buildings?

Accepted Answer

No. While some locations are free, some require separate paid entry. Most are private businesses or museums, so this is an entirely “exterior” tour. But you will see dozens of historical sites from the exterior while learning the amazing history of the city.

Question 6

Food-Drink Options, Bathroom Options, etc.,?

Accepted Answer

The Independence Visitors Center is open every day of the week from at least 9am to 5pm for snacks and bathrooms before/after tours. There are many local shops nearby to grab something before or after the tour. See the event description for each tour for specific information about breaks and options

Parking & Public Transportation Options?

Accepted Answer

Please see the event description for information about parking options and public transportation. Please factor in time to park or exit a public transportation station and walk to the meeting point. Pro tip - plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early - we can keep you entertained!

Starting | Ending Location

Accepted Answer

Please see the event description for the specific tour for detailed, accurate information. Our six historical, art & architecture, and combination ghost/dirty history tours, aka "Wicked Philadelphia" - all depart from outside of the IVC on Market Street just east of 6th Street.

Question 9

What happens if I'm running late?

Accepted Answer

Everyone that completes an order receives a confirmation email and a reminder 48 hours prior to the tour. If you know you will be 1-5 minutes late, please email info@seekexplorewander.com asap to discuss. Past 5 minutes we do not delay tours but may be able to direct you on where/when to catch up.

Question 10

Why is the tour recommended for ages 12 and up?

Accepted Answer

Typically, kids twelve and older can enjoy the tour and cover the distance easily. Younger children may struggle with distance, time commitment, and/or subject matter. Kids under twelve are welcome to participate for free, but please keep in mind their temperament and the length and time factors.
