The program aims to enhance participants' physical, mental, and emotional well-being by providing alternative methods to manage the unique stress and vicarious trauma associated with their important work.

Objectives:

  • Understand the role of the autonomic nervous system in trauma responses and how body-based practices support regulation and healing
  • Identify three common somatic symptoms associated with trauma
  • Learn at least two somatic-based techniques that can be safely integrated into a trauma-informed setting

This retreat offers a full day of structured, holistic workshops in a relaxing environment, specifically designed for professionals who work with victims of crime. Jagbir Kaur Kang, MA, MS, AMFT (#148425), is a survivor–proof that perseverance and persistence may lead to a path of healing and growth. She is the founder of @ihealandgrow and has embarked on a quest to help other survivors shine through their adversities. She empowers them to rediscover their inner strengths and strive to heal their invisible wounds.

She is an author of #1 New Release bestseller “Blooming Through the Cracks” on Amazon and holds a master's degree in psychology from Harvard University Extension Studies and a master's in counseling psychology from Palo Alto University. She is an international speaker, a yoga and meditation teacher, and regularly delivers webinars on mental health and domestic violence. She lives in the San Francisco Bay area.

Robin’s work is rooted at the intersection of her background in Justice Studies, Clinical Psychology/Mental Health Counseling, and Mind-body Wellness. She has been a licensed trauma therapist, Master Yoga teacher and specializes in Somatic Psychology and body-mind interventions for trauma resolution. Though clinically trained, her approach to mental health and community wellness is rooted in holistic and integrative perspectives and modalities that restore balance, purpose, and fortitude.

Robin is a nationally recognized presenter on Trauma and Resilience (visit Trauma-Forward) and has trained thousands of helping professionals. She has been teaching yoga for over 20 years and is considered a teachers’ teacher. She blends all areas of expertise in this unique training.

Robin has created progressive, evidence-based trauma healing programs that incorporate alternative healing modalities such as trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, eco-therapy, art, music, cultural heritage projects, and peer support programs. She has created programs for Veterans, Cancer Care/Health Care Providers, Family Services, Victim Advocacy, and First Responders.

HOTEL SCHOLARSHIPS

Hotel scholarships are available for one night on 4/30 if you are outside the county. If you are traveling for more than 3 hours away, you may request two nights. To apply for the scholarship, register for the event and then email Connie Chapman at avaaacademy@gmail.com requesting the scholarship.

REFUNDS

A full refund minus registration site fees can be received by requesting it BEFORE 4/24 by going through the Eventbrite system or emailing avaaacademy@gmail.com
