May 7th won't fix politics, but we can. Let's go! | Ni fydd 7 Mai yn trwsio gwleidyddiaeth, ond mi allwn ni. I ffwrdd a ni!

Let’s start building! Come join us for an afternoon of stories, snacks, and workshops where we’ll learn and share together and plan the building of a new chartist movement to strengthen people power.

Politics is broken, and democracy is under threat. We know that the answers to our problems are not in the Senedd or Westminster, but in communities up and down the Four Nations. This event is a joint effort to energise a new chartist movement in Wales. Join us in Cardiff, or let us know if you want to bring Our House closer to home.

We hope to:

• Connect with Welsh community power builders.
• Share stories of chartists past and present.
• Learn about a toolkit for facilitating, building and campaigning for People’s Charters – to bring power closer to the people.
• Share insights on what’s been working elsewhere, and explore what can be useful to bring positive change in Wales.
• Have some food, share joy, meet people and mobilise a plan for charter writing and movement building.

Dewch i ddechrau adeiladu! Ymunwch â ni am brynhawn o straeon, byrbrydau a gweithdai lle byddwn ni yn dysgu gyda’n gilydd, ac yn cynllunio adeiladu mudiad Siartwyr newydd i gryfhau pŵer y bobl.

Mae gwleidyddiaeth wedi torri, ac mae democratiaeth dan fygythiad. Rydym yn gwybod nad yw’r atebion i’n problemau yn y Senedd nac yn San Steffan, ond mewn cymunedau ar hyd a lled pedair gwlad y DU. Mae’r digwyddiad hwn yn ymdrech ar y cyd i roi egni i fudiad Siartwyr newydd yng Nghymru. Ymunwch â ni yng Nghaerdydd, neu rhowch wybod i ni os hoffech ddod ag Our House yn agosach i’ch cymuned.

Rydym yn gobeithio:

• Cysylltu ag adeiladwyr cymunedau pwerus  yng Nghymru
• Rhannu straeon Siartwyr y gorffennol a’r presennol
• Dysgu am becyn offer ar gyfer hwyluso, adeiladu ac ymgyrchu dros Siarteri’r Bobl – i ddod â phŵer yn nes at y bobl
• Rhannu gwybodaeth am yr hyn sydd wedi bod yn llwyddiannus mewn mannau eraill, ac archwilio beth all fod yn ddefnyddiol i greu newid cadarnhaol yng Nghymru
• Rhannu bwyd, rhannu llawenydd, cwrdd â phobl, a dechrau cynllun ar gyfer ysgrifennu siarteri ac adeiladu’r mudiad

What is a People’s Charter? / Beth yw Siarter y Bobl?

A People’s Charter is a set of shared values and demands for political power, written by and for communities. Not a wish list for what we want fixed — essential demands for how power and democracy should work.

People’s Charters have been used twice before to spur popular movements that change the way people participate in democracy. We face too many challenges to just campaign on single issues - but we can fix everything if we change who has power and how it works.

Mae Siarter y Bobl yn set o werthoedd a galwadau cyffredin ar gyfer grym gwleidyddol, wedi’u hysgrifennu gan gymunedau ac ar eu cyfer. Nid rhestr o ddymuniadau o’r hyn yr hoffem ei drwsio — ond galwadau hanfodol ar gyfer sut y dylai pŵer a democratiaeth weithio.

Mae Siarteri’r Bobl wedi cael eu defnyddio ddwywaith o’r blaen i sbarduno mudiadau poblogaidd sydd wedi newid y ffordd mae pobl yn cymryd rhan mewn democratiaeth. Rydym yn wynebu gormod o heriau i ganolbwyntio ar ymgyrchu ar faterion unigol yn unig — ond gallwn newid popeth os ydym yn newid pwy sydd â’r grym a sut mae’n gweithio.

What will happen on the day? / Beth fydd yn digwydd ar y diwrnod?

A detailed agenda will be shared soon, this will follow:

• A shared lunch and getting to know each other
• Chartist storytelling – how we’ve won power in the past and can win power again
• Democratic imagination game – what would your dream-ocracy look like?
• Mapping and planning, how we share resource, knowledge and tactics.

We’re gathering community leaders, local organisers, everyday changemakers, facilitators, participatory democracy practitioners, and people keen for a day of charter-building, mobilising and training! If you’re energised by getting to the root causes of challenges local to national, and want to explore building political power, then we’d love to see you!

About the Hosts / Am y Gwahoddwyr

Our House is a movement for people-powered democracy. That means we’re bringing people together to imagine and demand a democracy that works. We’re doing this through a new chartist movement and through the creation of local People's Charters: sets of shared values and political demands, developed locally, connected nationally.

Eva Trier and Noreen Blanluet are Cardiff-based participation practitioners and facilitators who believe that there's a place for this in Wales.

Mae Our House yn fudiad ar gyfer democratiaeth dan arweiniad y bobl. Mae hynny’n golygu ein bod yn dod â phobl ynghyd i ddychmygu a mynnu democratiaeth sydd ’yn gweithio.
