Write About Now is the preferred destination of poetry for thousands of individuals each year. Our poetry events have become a bucket list visit for poetry lovers who drive and fly from across the country to attend our shows every single week.

Our signup lists go up at 7:30 pm. Most individuals start arriving before then to guarantee a spot on the list.

Our featured poet is Crystal Valentine:

Crystal Valentine is a nationally and internationally acclaimed poet, educator and organizer. A former New York City Youth Poet Laureate and two-time winner of the College Union Poetry Slam Invitational, Crystal has been offered fellowships from Callaloo, Tin House, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conferences, The Boston Foundation and Cave Canem. She is the winner of Palette Poetry’s 2021 Emerging Poet Prize, selected by Kelli Russell Agodon and her work has appeared in the Academy of American Poets Poem-a-Day, Muzzle Magazine, TriQuarterly Magazine, and elsewhere. She received an MFA from New York University. Originally hailing from the Bronx, Crystal now resides in Boston where she serves as the Director of Programming for Mass Poetry and co-host of Just Be(loved): Your Neighborhood Poetry Slam and Open Mic. When she isn’t writing or agonizing over line breaks, you can find her watching anime and dreaming.

Amanda Shea is a three-time Boston Music Award-winning Spoken Word Artist. Shea is a poet, educator, producer, host, and curator. She founded Free Verse, an open mic series and cultural platform committed to amplifying radical imagination through art, truth-telling, and collective liberation. Her work can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts, The Boston Globe, TEDX, TEDXRoxbury, Netflix, Prime Video, BBC News, GBH, and much more. Shea is the curator and host of GBH OUTSPOKEN SATURDAYS. She is the Arts & Culture Director at 617PEAK and she will be releasing her first book, “Pieces of Shea,” in 2026. In her leisure, she rollerskates and watches documentaries.

Born in Dorchester to Caribbean and LatinX parents, Trizz describes his DJ sound as a mix of Urban Caribbean with a global fusion approach. He has been a staple in the Boston entertainment scene for over 15 years. Throughout his career as a DJ and entertainer, he has worked with major artists and brands, including Major Lazer, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Macy's, Champion, Free (formerly of BET) and many more. He currently serves as the Station Manager for Spark FM Online, recognized as the first Black, female-owned digital radio station in Boston. He helped launch the station alongside CEO Danielle Johnson (Ms. HotSauce) and a close-knit team to amplify the underserved voices of the Urban and Caribbean communities. He is 1/3 of Boston based morning show #SaucyAndFriendsInTheMorning and Host of #TheSnackShop Mid-Day show.

Doors will open at 7:30 pm and the show will start at 8 pm sharp.

A full bar and food will be available at the show!

Parking?

You can find free street parking, paid street parking, public lots that are within a short walk, including 44 Warren Street Municipal Parking Lot, Dudley Square Municipal Parking Lot and the Blair Lot (1125 Harrison Ave) that are a short walk.

If the above options don't work for you, use the app Spot Hero for the lot or parking spots that make the most sense as far as proximity and price point.

This city is really great for public transportation and you can always uber, lyft or ride share as well.

Food and Drinks?

We'll have a full cash bar at the show for drinks as well as food available.

Dress?

Some people dress to the nines others like to dress more casual. Dress in whatever makes you feel the best.

Sign Ups?

Sign ups go up as soon as doors open at 7:30 pm. If we can start seating earlier we will.

All seating is general seating at this show.
