Come join us for the 179th Annual General Meeting of The Palaeontographical Society - a gathering of fossil enthusiasts and experts alike!

We would like to invite you to join us for the 179th Annual General Meeting, on Wednesday 6th May 2026 at the University of Southampton

There will be award and prize-giving, including the Marsh Palaeoart Award, short talks by our awardees, annual lectures and the Annual Report of Council which will be presented, along with the accounts. Our council members also will be elected for the next year.


Our Annual Lectures will be given by:

Professor Kirsty Edgar (University of Birmingham) - Walking with dinosaurs: Unearthing the UK's dinosaur track sites

Professor John Marshall (University of Southampton) - The terrestral Devonian in East Greenland: a tale of two mass extinctions

For those who are able to make it in person, there will be tea and coffee at the start, followed by a drinks reception after the proceedings.

You can attend in person or virtually and you do not need to be a member (new members are always welcome). Attendance is free although we ask you to register in advance for catering purposes and the link to attend the meeting online will only be sent to those who have registered.

Please note registration for in person attendance closes on 1st May at noon BST as we need to know numbers for catering purposes. If you like to attend after this date please get into contact.
