We invite you to join our walking tour. Following the tour, there will be a panel discussion and a reception featuring Korean cuisine.

Join our walking tour with a guide to explore the historic landmarks and popular Korean eateries of the Charles North neighborhood and learn about the history behind Koreatown's key attractions.The walking tour will be led by YooRaRa (MFA ’26) and Melissa Minseo Oh (MFA in Curatorial Practice). They are both MICA graduate students and curatorial assistants working for <a href="https://www.bmorektown.org/" title="https://www.bmorektown.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">the preservation of Baltimore’s Koreatown</a> Project.Upon your return from the walking tour, performances of traditional Korean Nanta and Arirang dances by the senior dance group of the Korean Cultural and Arts of Maryland Association will take place in the lobby of the SNF Parkway Theatre from 4:35 to 4:50pm.Then, join us for an exclusive panel discussion in the SNF Parkway Theatre 1 about Baltimore Koreatown’s past, present, and future. Our moderator is Jacqueline Shin, National Register Assistant at the Maryland Historical Trust. Our participating panelists are Shauntee Daniels, Executive Director of the Baltimore National Heritage Area; Phaan Howng, co-leader of the project for preserving Baltimore Koreatown; Angela Ra, Communications and Strategic Policy Manager at the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs; Matthew Lee, Founder/President &amp; CEO of the FASTech, Inc. &amp; A-Tech Systems, Inc. and President of KoBE Government Contracting Alliance; Myung Hwa Shin, President of the Korean Culture &amp; Art of Maryland and business owner in Baltimore City, and Tae Wan Kim, a business owner for 30 years in Baltimore City.Following the panel discussion, we invite you to enjoy a reception featuring free Korean cuisine and K-Pop music in the Lounge of the SNF Parkway from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.This event is organized by the Baltimore Changwon Sister City Committee and a program of the 2026 Asia North Exhibition and Festival.

Korean traditional performances by the group Korean Culture and Art of Maryland (KCAMD)KCAMD Dance programModeumbukModeumbuk involves drumming with traditional Korean rhythms and is a drumming act belonging to the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Association. These performances are typically featured during annual festival seasons and at events celebrating international relations. Modeumbuk's traditional percussion music incorporates a sense of modernity, centered on the core idea of producing rhythmic beats by tapping on objects with sticks. Arirang (아리랑)Considered by many to be Korea’s unofficial anthem, Arirang is a beloved folk song recognized as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. While there are many regional variations of this song of separation and lost love, our performers have chosen to present the most well-known version.
