Overview

Join us for a four-week nature journaling series; for people of all skill levels to enjoy outdoor observation, sketching, and watercolors.

Join Peabody artist and Newhall Fields Board Member Jacqui Orphanos for a four-week nature sketching class this spring! Meet Saturdays from 12–2pm, May 30th through June 20th, 2026, at the beautiful Newhall Fields in Peabody. All levels are warmly welcome — whether you've never picked up a sketchbook or are looking to deepen your practice, this is your invitation to slow down, observe, and connect with the natural world through drawing. You'll learn foundational sketching techniques and discover how to make nature journaling a joyful, regular habit. All sketching supplies are provided, and each participant will take home their own sketchbook and sketching pens to keep their new nature journaling habit going long after the class ends. Come sketch, explore, and see Newhall Fields through fresh eyes!

The series will take place 12pm - 2pm, once a week on four congruent Saturdays:

May 30th

June 6th

June 13th

June 20th

(with June 27th rain date)

When you register, you are committing to all four days of the series.

About Your Instructor:

Jacqui Orphanos is a lifelong artist and curious learner. She studied art and eventually became a teacher and a Peabody Public Schools principal. In retirement from public education, she has reinvented herself living a joyful life as artist, yoga teacher and overall nature loving creator. She works intuitively, capturing the unique essence of her subjects on canvas and sketchbooks. Jacqui is a proud board member of Newhall Fields as well.
