Detroit - play by Lisa D'Amour presented by Performance Jam April24- May3
Dark comedy about inviting new neighbors over for a backyard barbecue which spirals into an unexpected entanglement and examination.
Performance Jam, who brought you the sold-out production of THE SEAGULL in 2024 , are back at Pullman Yards with another "not to be missed" production of DETROIT - a dark comedy play by Lisa D'Amour / Pulitzer Prize Finalist and 2013 Obie Winner of Best New American Play.
Set in a suburban backyard, Mary and Ben invite new neighbors Kenny and Sharon for a barbecue. Worried about their Home Depot/TJ Maxx purchases and future, they learn that the souls' deepest need is to rub shoulders with the unexpected, come what may.
DETROIT reflects our moment of fractured individuation, frightened times , generative automation, a precipice between generations, disillusionment with systems and ways of American idealism. It brings to the surface with humor, pain and great compassion the contradictions of human nature.
Features: Vivian Bang, Love Floyd, Eric Whitten, Dan Cutts & Craig Anton with Movement Consulting by Erin O'Connor
Directed by Fiona Campbell & Vivian Bang
Tech (Sound & Light) Design by Mason C Brown
Props & Set Design by Zoe Kruse
Hosted by Pullman Yards - Building #5, 225 Roger St. ATL
