About the panelists:
Paul Heideman holds a PhD in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark. His work has appeared in publications such as Jacobin, Dissent, and In These Times. He works as a history teacher in New York City.
Kim Phillips-Fein is the Robert Gardiner–Kenneth T. Jackson Professor of History at Columbia. She is the author of Fear City: New York’s Fiscal Crisis and the Rise of Austerity Politics.
Anand Gopal is a writer for The New Yorker. He is the author of Days of Love and Rage and No Good Men Among the Living. He writes about democracy, inequality, and conflict.
Doug Henwood is a Brooklyn-based journalist and broadcaster who specializes in economics and politics. His work has appeared in Harper's, The Nation (where he is a contributing editor), Jacobin, BookForum, and Grand Street. His books include Wall Street: How It Works and For Whom, After the New Economy, and My Turn: Hillary Clinton Targets the Presidency. He is the host of Behind the News, a weekly radio show, that originates on KPFA (Berkeley), is syndicated to other stations across the country, and enjoys a worldwide listenership on the web.
