Homemaking, especially getting weeknight dinners on the table, didn't come naturally to me. I regretted not learning more home economics skills as a kid, but it wasn't too late for me and it's not too late for you to learn skills such as those included in this session:

  • Crafting three delicious and frugal mocktails using herbs
  • Carving a whole chicken
  • Making a classic roux
  • Hosting a casual dinner party, from prep to clean up

Hi, I'm Melissa Falcone and accidentally I became a farmer. Really my heart is in feeding people, food security, and breaking bread with people I love. Cooking and hospitalty didn't come naturally to me, so I'm creating a hands-on series to equip and encourage others who want to improve their homemaking skills, starting with the basics, but in a way that's fun, community-building, and delicious! Welcome to Home Ec for Grown Ups at True Cut Ranch.

Ready to level up your kitchen skills? Dive into an in-person session where you'll learn to whip up refreshing Herbal Mocktails and master the art of making a perfect Chicken Pot Pasta—including the ever-essential roux technique. It’s all about good vibes, tasty drinks, and comforting food. Come hungry and curious!

This menu includes three spring-inspired mocktails that we'll taste as we create a simple and crowd-pleasing dish: chicken pot pie. It's like chicken pot pie but without the need to make biscuits. We'll make this from scratch, explore ways to change this basic recipe up based on what's in season, and then enjoy our creation at the dinner table.

What to bring:

  • An apron if you wish to wear one
  • BYOB if you'd like beverages beyond our herbal mocktails

What's included:

  • Small group evening experience at the farm
  • Instruction and supplies
  • Light dinner
  • Home Ec for Grown Ups Binder with Recipe Sheets

This event is the first of a series called Home Ec for Grown Ups. You'll notice two ticket types available for future editions which will be announced shortly:

  • First Timer: If you're new to the series, choose this ticket type which will include your binder.
  • Repeat Student: Choose this if you've already done a Home Ec for Grown Ups so you can save $10 and you'll keep adding to your binder. Make sure you bring it to the session. This allows you to pick and choose which sessions you'd like to participate in rather than commit to the whole series.
