Overview

Book Presentation

Join us for an evening with North Texas plant expert and content creator Tanner Mitchell, known to many as Tanner The Planter, celebrating his new book For The Love of Houseplants. Mitchell will be joined in conversation with Erika, his wife and business partner and co-owner of the plant shop they opened together in 2020 and a central presence throughout the book.

In For The Love of Houseplants, Mitchell draws on his experience as a plant shop owner and educator to offer an accessible guide to caring for houseplants of all kinds. The book covers everything from choosing plants suited to your space to practical advice on watering, repotting, fertilizing, and troubleshooting common issues like yellow leaves, pests, or overwatering. Along the way, Mitchell reflects on the small rituals of plant care and the sense of calm and attentiveness that tending plants can bring to everyday life.

Originally from Oregon, Mitchell began sharing plant care tips online at the encouragement of his children, quickly building a community of plant enthusiasts drawn to his practical approach and enthusiasm for helping others succeed with their plants.

The evening will begin with a moderated conversation between Tanner and Erika Mitchell, co-owner of Famous in Oregon, the plant shop they opened together in 2020, about building their plant business, the community that has grown around it, and the inspiration behind the book, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
