What sets your tours/company apart?

I'm a local, small business owner. You don't get a guide reading a script someone else wrote. You get me, an experienced, professional guide, former history teacher, lifelong student of the city, food, art, travel, and storytelling, & someone committed to delivering excellence and unique experiences

Question 2

Why is the tour recommended for ages 18 and up?

Accepted Answer

This isn’t your grandma’s history tour. We don’t purposefully aim to be raunchy or rancid, and we’re always professional, half the fun is learning about the city’s “dirty laundry”. So, no kids 12 or under. Kids 13-17, with parent in attendance and with express approval of both parties MAY BE welcome

I've lived in Philly a long time, will I still learn something new?

Accepted Answer

Of course! We've lived here most of our lives, devour history, and still learn new things or hear new stories regularly. What sets our tours apart from the competition is the art of storytelling. We don't just throw a bunch of facts at you. We explain the WHY and HOW and impact of things.

Question 4

Do we go inside any of historic buildings?

Accepted Answer

No. While some locations are free, some required separate paid entry. Many close early. And most are private businesses/museums so this is an entirely “exterior” tour. But you will see dozens of historical sites from the exterior while learning the amazing history of the city.

Question 5

Is the tour suitable for people with limited mobility, wheelchairs, strollers, etc?

Accepted Answer

This is a two and a half mile walking tour of Philadelphia. Participants who can manage that distance over two hours with 15 or so stops for a few minutes are all welcome. If you have specific concerns or questions, please contact us and we'll be happy to discuss your specific concerns.

Food-Drink Options, Bathroom Options, etc?

The Independence Visitors Center is open every day of the week from at least 9am to 5pm for snacks and bathrooms before/after tours. There are many local shops nearby to grab something before or after the tour. See the event description for each tour for specific information about breaks and options

Parking & Public Transportation

Accepted Answer

Please see the event description for the specific tour for detailed, accurate information. Our six historical, art & architecture, and combination ghost/dirty history tours, aka "Wicked Philadelphia" - all depart from outside of the IVC on Market Street just east of 6th Street.

Question 8

What happens if I'm running late?

Accepted Answer

Everyone that completes an order receives a confirmation email and a reminder 48 hours prior to the tour. If you know you will be 1-5 minutes late, please email info@seekexplorewander.com asap to discuss. Past 5 minutes we do not delay tours but may be able to direct you on where/when to catch up.

Question 9

What happens if it's raining, thundering & lightning, or extremely hot.

Accepted Answer

We don't cancel tours for drizzle or light rain. We do not cancel for heat (or cold) unless it becomes dangerous. Thunder & lightning, depending on forecast, may force cancellation. We issue refunds, no questions asked, up to 24 hours prior to events. After that, please contact us to discuss options
