Join us for a special evening of encouragement and support at this special Open Mic for Sexual Assault Awareness & Action Month and Denim Day!

Take Back the Night (TBTN) Open Mic on Wednesday, April 29th 6-8pm.

A Seat at the Table will remain open to the public 6-7pm, when TBTN attendees will be able to participate in a writing workshop, enjoy live music, and do chair yoga accompanied by sound healing. 7-8pm, the store will close to the public and SA survivors will have a space to share in a survivor speakout open mic. This event is open to adult (18+) survivors of sexual violence & their supportive allies.

Dress Code: Denim Day!

“Denim Day is recognized on the last Wednesday in April in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. (TW: sexual assault, victim blaming) The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court to overturn a rape conviction because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove them, thereby implying consent. About the host: Natalie is a beloved feminist poet in the Elk Grove community. She hosted the Unmasking Autism book club series here at A Seat at the Table Books. She has a B.A. in Feminist Studies and seeks to combat sexual violence through an abolitionist lens.
