What happens at Space Camp?

Every day we offer professionally-led workshops appropriate for novices to experts in visual art, improv theater, and Brazilian drumming. Workshops in 2026 include woven fiber art, mixed media collage, singing, and more!

And we also have campfires, s’mores, a talent show, game night, karaoke and more! Plus, every day there's plenty of free time and space to relax, read, write, practice, play, knit, walk, nap, or collaborate with a new creative partner.

"It's a very bonding experience getting together with other creative people and doing creative things in a no-pressure environment away from goals and agendas."

"I LOVED everything we did"

Judgement-Free Zone.

The vibe at Space Camp is totally loose: you can attend whatever sessions appeal to you or not. You can leave in the middle of a session if you're not into it, or come late. No judgement, no pressure! Space Camp is all about providing space for you to do and enjoy what you want!

"I liked the structure of each day - plenty to choose from, and the option to not choose anything!"

The Space: Privacy and Community.

Space Camp takes place at Pendle Hill retreat center in Wallingford, PA. Most activities are in a spacious beautiful house secluded from the rest of the campus, called Brinton House. Most campers have a private bedroom. The house is big enough for you to have total quiet in your room while others are playing piano in the living room, or working on their art project in the main hall. Bathrooms are just a few feet away from your room; they are 'home-style' (one person at a time) and typically shared by 3 people.

Healthy Food.... plus Snack Mountain.

Meals take place an 8 minute walk from Brinton House in the Dining Hall. Much of the food is cooked from scratch and grown in their onsite organic garden. Most dietary needs can be accommodated. The food is simple, delicious, healthy and filling. Meals are eaten communally with other groups who are on campus at the same time as Space Camp. And… Space Campers contribute some not-so-healthy food to something we call 'Snack Mountain,' so there's plenty of munching happening back at the house! The house has a large refrigerator, freezer and microwave.

Open Space.

After a few days together we create an 'Open Space' session in which you - the campers - are invited to offer your own session in a structured format. It could be any creative exploration you’d like to share/teach, or just an offer to 'read while sitting near each other.' No obligation to make an offering, of course.

"I honestly think Open Space was one of the coolest parts of Space Camp! It was awesome to be able to offer ideas in the moment, join others in creating different things, and spend the time according to how you want to flow. The freedom, flexibility, and inspiration felt was a great way to end our time together."

Fellow Campers.

Space Camp attracts people of all ages, from 30's to 70's, with a majority of folks in the middle of that range.

Don't know anyone going to Space Camp? Camp is designed to create a safe comfortable environment to meet new friends. Low-key community-building activities, plus nametags (quickly unnecessary), create a super-easy way to connect.

Looking for a unique get-away with your pal or group of friends? Space Camp is the perfect retreat to re-connect with old friends. Many campers have attended with a friend (or four!) who are far-flung, giving them a chance to hang together and not have to plan anything!

"just a wonderful group of people! Fun, funny, kind, playful…"

"Just love being able to unplug with great people."
