Overview

Artist Robin Crofut-Brittingham discusses her exhibition, Migrations.

Artist Robin Crofut-Brittingham discusses her exhibition, Migrations, and the ways her large-scale works imagine fragile, speculative futures shaped by the tension between human activity and the natural world.

Crofut-Brittingham is an artist and writer based in Montreal, Canada. Raised in western Massachusetts, she earned a B.A. from Bard College and an M.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work has been exhibited widely throughout the U.S. and Canada and is held in public and private collections internationally. Drawing on mythology, speculative fiction, and current events, her richly detailed paintings address themes of overconsumption and environmental degradation while envisioning alternative futures in which coexistence remains possible. In 2025, she published The Illuminated Book of Birds, the first in a series of nature books written and illustrated by the artist, with a second volume, The Illuminated Book of Blooms, forthcoming in 2026.
