2026 Downtown Akron Sakura Festival

The 2026 Downtown Akron Sakura Festival includes several guided, registered workshops and programs. Some are free, others are paid programs. From origami, and tea ceremonies, to sake and sushi tastings.

<h3>Join Akron resident Anthony Serpette - a paper folder for over 30 years - as he teaches guests of all ages how to fold some classic origami designs.</h3>

<h4>This program meets in the Lock 3 "skate rental" area.</h4>

Participants will learn how to create 2 different origami forms. All supplies will be provided.The word Origami means "folding" and "paper" and while it looks like magic, this art form turns simple pieces of paper into beautiful flowers, butterflies, hopping frogs, and birds with flapping wings. There will also be free giveaways for attendees.Other origami opportunities are available at tables outside at Lock 3 and inside the Mustill Store.
