Justice Young joined the Court in 2021 after being appointed by Governor Greg Abbott, and he was elected to a full term in 2022. A summa cum laude graduate of Duke University, a Marshall Scholar at the University of Oxford, and a graduate of Yale Law School, he has built a distinguished career in public service, private practice, and legal education.
His background includes service at the U.S. Department of Justice, including work on the Rule of Law mission in Baghdad, private practice with arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court, and teaching at the University of Texas School of Law. With a deep commitment to justice, education, and public service, Justice Young brings a remarkable depth of experience and insight to both the bench and the broader community.
