UMKC Insights: Student Perspectives on The World in Kansas City
Experience a deep dive into select artworks from The World in Kansas City exhibition through presentations by UMKC students.
Each student group will highlight an artist and artwork from the exhibition as part of their course World Currents of Contemporary Art, led by Professor Cristina Albu. The World Currents of Contemporary Art course provides an introduction to the densely interconnected trajectories of contemporary art across different parts of the world.
Student groups will share their research on a featured artwork in the exhibition, situating it within the local and the global art context. They will also connect the work of choice with art tendencies they studied over the course of the semester and personal memories of Kansas City sites.
