Johnson Hall's Homegrown Series featuring Mike Van Summern & Sagittarius Rising

The Johnson Hall Homegrown Series is a new series that will always feature local artists.

Mike Van Summern is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter whose music is deeply rooted in American Roots traditions. Originally from Gardiner, Maine, Mike studied performance at Berklee College of Music, and also spent time living in Portland, Maine, where he worked as a bass and guitar player for several local blues bands.

In 2014, Mike moved to Austin, Texas, where he spent nearly a decade performing, honing his craft, and making a name for himself in the Austin music scene. In the fall of 2023, Mike returned home to Maine, where he now performs regularly across the state, both as a solo act and with his band, Mike Van Summern and Tejas Blues.Sagittarius Rising is twin sister duo Isabelle and Phoebe Rogers from Western Maine. Together they create uplifting, original music inspired by nature and the imagination with vocal harmonies, guitar, penny whistle and percussion. They are also artists and award-winning filmmakers, blending their music soundtracks with artistic visuals. Sagittarius Rising believes that music is a powerful way to ignite positive change in the world.

This show will take place on the Logan Stage (1st Floor)
