About this Session:

Join us for our March Lunch & Learn, Mass Timber + Prefabrication - The Future of School Design. Mass timber is rapidly emerging as a viable structural system for K–12 schools, offering benefits in sustainability, construction speed, and occupant well-being. This session provides an accessible introduction to mass timber systems—such as CLT and glulam—along with an overview of key code considerations and structural applications in educational facilities.

The presentation will also explore how prefabrication and off-site construction are transforming school delivery by improving quality control, reducing waste, and accelerating schedules. Attendees will gain candid insights into the real-world opportunities and challenges of these approaches, including coordination requirements and cost considerations relevant to projects in our region.

Through case studies and lessons learned from completed projects, this session will help design professionals and school stakeholders better understand how mass timber and prefabrication can support high-performance, sustainable learning environments.

About the speakers:

Matt Larson is the Vice President of Product at TimberQuest, where he helps advance prefabricated mass timber solutions for educational facilities. His work focuses on helping architects and school districts deliver sustainable, high-performance learning environments through innovative construction strategies.

Myrna Wagner, Business Development Lead at TimberQuest, is a respected leader in business development and marketing within the AEC industry. She is known for building meaningful connections across the design and construction community while advocating for innovative approaches in the built environment.
