Join us for a sizzling & magical summer course of tango music at Coda in the New Forest!
3 Days of Tango Fun!
This summer course is designed to introduce you to the dynamic and fascinating world of Argentine tango music. Originally appearing in the late 1880s in Buenos Aires, tango music has continued to grow and develop ever since. Some of you may have heard of Astor Piazzolla, one of the most famous tango composers. This course will take you on a journey through history and emotion, starting with celebrated repertoire from the 1920s all the way up to Piazzolla himself. Stories of tango will be woven in throughout.
You will learn some new instrumental techniques which include percussion and rhythmic/syncopated playing, multiple types of slides and glissandos, and dynamics full of passion and expression.
Arrangements can be made to cater to any level, but we do ask that you can read music and have several years of instrumental playing under your belt.
All sheet music and mp3 recordings will be provided once you sign up for the course.
The instruments we accept are: violin, viola, cello, bass, piano, accordion, concertina, bandoneon, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, guitar, harmonica. Please ask if you play something else and we will see if it can be included!
