16 Hour Advanced Training For Yoga Teachers

The Yoga Therapeutics Immersion is a 16-hour advanced training designed specifically for yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners seeking a deeper, more functional understanding of the body, an ability to assess the source of common pain problems and movement restrictions, and a toolbox for addressing them through asana modifications as well as remedial exercises that will enhance one’s practice.

Led by yoga educators Doug Keller and Julia Pearring, this immersion offers an effective balance between an integrative, whole-body approach to yoga therapeutics grounded in contemporary myofascial science, and practical wisdom for guiding students into better movement patterns.

Moving beyond isolated alignment cues, the training explores the relationship between joint function and muscle tone through a tensegrity network of fascia that maintains movement and vitality. Yoga asanas, even more than other disciplines, are oriented toward restoring balance within this network to maintain flexibility, strength, and pain-free movement. It just takes a little more knowledge and insight into common movement and pain problems to understand how to benefit from the innate wisdom of the asanas. This immersion provides such knowledge in an accessible and applicable way.

Yogic principles such as prana and the nadis are explored alongside fascia, creating a modern, embodied language that bridges anatomy, physiology, and yoga philosophy.

The immersion addresses real-world issues commonly encountered in teaching and practice—such as foot and ankle problems, knee problems, low back pain, hip and hamstring tightness, shoulder impingement, and the postural imbalances at the root of so many of these problems —while emphasizing approaches that support healthy aging and lifelong well-being. This training offers tools that are immediately applicable, deeply felt, and adaptable over time.

What You’ll Explore

  • Whole-Body Connection, Not Just “Parts” Focus
Apply fascial maps to understand full-body integration, moving beyond isolated muscles or alignment rules.
  • Prana Meets Physiology
Link traditional yogic concepts of vitality with the body’s fascial network to create a contemporary framework for embodied practice.
  • Rewire Habitual Posture
Identify and unwind postural patterns by working with long fascial chains that shape how we move and hold ourselves.
  • Smarter Postures for Real Issues
Develop a myofascial approach to asana that supports mobility, reduces chronic tension, and builds sustainable strength.
  • Address Chronic Discomfort
Understand common patterns such as low back pain, hip tightness, and shoulder stiffness through an integrated, whole-body lens.
  • Support the Nervous System
Explore how fascial health influences nervous system regulation, stress response, and resilience.
  • Practice for Healthy Aging
Shift from a flexibility-only mindset toward mobility, coordination, and connection that support longevity.
  • Teach with Confidence and Clarity
Gain practical tools to address injury recovery, inflammation, postural correction, and students’ real-life needs.
  • Ground Yoga Philosophy in the BodyThe scientific, technical language of modern anatomy is specific and verifiable; yoga language is experiential and evocative, and moves students to explore their experience. The skill of a teacher is to be versed in, and able direct students by drawing upon both, speaking with clarity as well as simply, inspiring students to explore their experience, and make their own wellness a practice in which they are fully engaged
