Rage Becomes Her: Women's Book Club

Online event
Sunday, Apr 19 from 10 am to 12 pm EDT
Overview

A women's book club with Kaleigh McAfee, AMFT and IFS therapist discussing Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women's Anger by Soraya Chemaly

Rage Becomes Her - A women's book club with Kaleigh McAfee, AMFT and IFS therapist discussing Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women's Anger by Soraya Chemaly

This virtual space is for women to wonder together about how we have been and how we can be in relationship with the parts of us that are enraged – our own and in other women. The group will include: a guided discussion of the book, somatic and parts-exploring work to build relationship with our own rage parts, and group sharing. Our goal for the group is that participants will leave with a better understanding of the ways in which your own rage parts need to be held/expressed and a plan for how you'll maintain relationship with these parts.

The group will meet on zoom from 10:00am - 12:00pm on Sunday April 19th. Registration is required and space is limited. The cost of the group is a minimum donation of $9, with a portion of proceeds plus our own donation going to support the Augusta, GA (Kaleigh's local community) Sexual Assault Response Center. This group is for peer support and educational purposes and is not a therapy group.

About SARC

SARC is a local, community-based nonprofit that provides services to multiple counties in the CSRA. Our services include forensic medical care, advocacy, and counseling as well as some education/prevention initiatives and promotion of victims' rights. All of our services are free of charge to survivors and their loved ones, and if they are over 18 years old, they do not have to report to law enforcement to receive care. We have a 24/7 crisis line (706-774-5200) to access our team when needed.

Due to the nature of our services, it is helpful to have travel-sized soaps, deodorants, wipes, snacks and drinks, clothes, feminine products, and blankets. Because the weather is getting warmer, I think some of our needs coming up are going to be comfortable-fitting short-sleeve shirts and shorts (any size, though small and large are most needed), as well as bras and undergarments (any size). Financial contributions are also welcome! Every dollar helps to cover up-front costs of sexual assault kits, medications, and therapy sessions, or it can allow us to order the exact supplies that are most beneficial for our patients.

In April we are hosting "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes" to spread education and prevention of sexual violence in our community. It is free to register to walk, and you can also form a team if you would like. More information can be found at www.sarcgeorgia.org/walk-a-mile.
