Exwick Roots & Shoots Guided History Walk
A guided food heritage walk exploring the stories behind Exwick's old nurseries and market gardens.
Join us on Tuesday 28th April 2026 for the Exwick Roots & Shoots walk. This will be a gentle guided walk where you will hear stories and curious facts about Exwick's old plant nurseries and market gardens, including exotic plants - melons and magnolias, plant theft - crime & punishment, and allotments and orchards - linking past and present growing activities.
A gentle circular walk (level ground) from Miller’s Crossing through Exwick, followed by coffee and a chance to share local memories at the Mill on the Exe pub.
This walk is organised collaboratively by Wellbeing Exeter, Zero Mile Gardens, Exwick History Society and Westbank Health.
Under 18s to be accompanied by an adult.
Please do not bring dogs, except assistance dogs.
Meet: 10.30am at Miller's Crossing, EX4 1DH (What3words location: fees.stars.modes)
Return: Approx. 12.00am – followed by coffee and chat at the Mill on the Exe pub
