MBSR Research

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight-week evidence-based mindfulness training designed for stress management and to assist people in dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and pain.

MBSR was originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. The MBSR classes use a combination of mindfulness, meditation, body awareness, gentle yoga and the exploration of patterns or behavior, thinking, feeling and action. This is an evidenced based approach which has beneficial effects for both mental and physical health.

Classes are 2 hours long except for the first and last class which are 3 hours long. Overall, this course offers 30 hours of experiential learning and instruction.

This course will be offered as a hybrid model allowing for virtual or in person attendance.

Julie Russomanno, MC, LPC is a Certified EMDR Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant and a Level 1 MBSR teacher. She is registered with the Global Mindfulness Collaborative.
