OHC26: The Living Gallery – Home of Dilsiri Welikala [Tour]
Visit this artist's home as part of Open House Colombo 2026.
The Living Gallery is the home and studio of Dilsiri Welikala, a passionate entrepreneur, adventure tourism expert, and multi-disciplinary artist. The land has been in Welikala’s family for over 150 years, and he began construction on his house in 2012 after receiving the land as a gift from his father.
Spending much of his time with his tourism business in Kalpitiya, Welikala briefly shared the property with his mother, the artist Noeline Fernando, until her passing in 2021. Fernando had a significant influence on the home's interior, filling the space with work by her friends and colleagues.
Drawn back by a renewed engagement with Colombo’s evolving arts scene, Welikala returned home full-time six years ago. Today, the space is both a home and a studio. In addition to being a gallery of works collected and created by Welikala and Fernando, the house is a living space shaped by inheritance, memory, nature, and the ongoing act of making.
This homestudio is situated in Battaramulla. The precise address and directions will be provided directly to registered participants on Friday, 27th March at 5:30 pm.
