Visit this garment upcycling studio as part of Open House Colombo 2026.
Lala Studio is a purpose-driven fashion brand, upcycling fast fashion waste into gender-neutral bags, accessories and apparel. The brand was born through the founders’ climate anxiety and with the hope of creating a mode of expression for the LGBTQIA+ community. It champions zero-waste practices by repurposing discarded materials, such as pre-consumer (unused) pant legs, dead stocks and off-cuts from the garment industry.
Located on a residential property, the studio is split across two spaces: an indoor, air-conditioned design studio, an archive and storage area, and an open-air production space. All of Lala’s products are designed in-house, with assistance from home-based artisans. The brand prioritises working with women, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
Visitors to Lala Studio will have the chance to explore the workshop, see how the team transforms waste into value-added products, and be involved in the process of creating a community upcycled piece. This is also an opportunity to learn more about garment upcycling and the brand’s ethical and regenerative production methods.
This homestudio is situated in Pannipitiya. The precise address and directions will be provided directly to registered participants on Friday, 27th March at 5 pm.
