Overview

Our Climbing & Descending clinic - on the trail!

WHO THIS CLINIC IS FOR

You’ve been mountain biking long enough to be comfortable on singletrack trails. You know how to shift and brake and are comfortable at a trail area like Betasso. You want to get better at getting up, over and down natural trail features like rocks, roots and logs.

DESCRIPTION

Living in Colorado, it seems we’re always going up or downhill. In this clinic for more experienced riders, you will continue to find ways to improve your riding. We will spend the beginning of the class reviewing Foundation skills and then apply these skills to navigating up and down rock features in West Magnolia in Nederland.

  • Navigate roots, logs, and rocks in both directions
  • Perform wheel lifts for clearing obstacles
  • Apply climbing and descending techniques
  • Roll down large drops and land air-off drops
  • Dismount while climbing or descending

This is an intermediate class.

Maximum 6 students. No matter how you ride your bike, you're about to ride it better!

Clinic meets at the Observatory trailhead at West Magnolia (39.9468157,-105.518013). From the Peak to Peak highway, turn west at Magnolia road and follow Haul Rd for 1 mile. The parking lot will be on the left.

Start Time: 5:30 pm (please be there at 5:15 pm to allow ample prep time)

COST

We love to ride and we know that you do too so we try to keep our expenses low and then pass that savings onto our members. Our goal is to make our clinics accessible to everyone and to grow Boulder's awesome cycling community. Not a member? Sign up for $5/month or $39/year and save!

BMA Members: $90

Non Members: $130

IMPORTANT INFO

All participants MUST:

  • Wear a properly fitted helmet at all times while riding
  • Wear closed-toe shoes
  • Bring water and weather-appropriate clothing (layers are a great idea)
  • Ride a trail-ready bike that is in good working order and fits you

Gloves and additional padding are encouraged.

Minimum age to participate is 14 years old. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who remains present and responsible for the minor at all times. Drop-offs are not permitted.

If a rider sustains a head impact or is suspected of a concussion, they will be removed from riding for the remainder of the clinic.

For permitting, planning, and payment purposes, you must sign up if you plan to join us.

BMA has a 24-hour cancellation policy. No refunds or credits will be given with less than 24 hours notice.
