Springtime Scouting for Plant Pests and Disease
Scouting means to look for pests, disease, and more in the landscape. Learn how to effectively scout during our in-person workshop.
Scouting is an important step of integrated pest management (IPM) and crucial for determining what issues might be affecting your plants. From there, gardeners and landscapers alike can determine the cause, whether to take action, and if so, what management techniques to use.
This event will focus on scouting for pests and disease in the garden, identification techniques, edible gardening considerations, and the basics of IPM.
Instructors:
- Jackie Lebouitz, Chemicals in the Environment Agent, UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County
- Tracy Calla, Commercial Horticulture Program Specialist, UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County
- Mindy Hanak, Community and School Garden Coordinator, UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County
