ArtsLIVE! (formerly Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts) has a mission to bring the performing arts to the greater Fredericksburg Community.  Reaching audiences of young people in schools and senior populations in health care facilities is a major part of what ArtsLIVE! does.  The Annual Chamber Music Festival is ArtsLIVE!'s showcase event.  Music, drama, dance and more enrich our community and our lives!

Be entranced by Claude Debussy's "Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp", Jessie Montgomery's "Strum ", and Amy Beach's "Piano Quintet in F-sharp minor, Op. 67". Performed by: Carol Wincenc, Mark Berger, Stacey Shames, Leqing Wang, Peter Zazofsky, Andrew Mark, Paul Glenn, and Michele Levin.

May 15, Chamber Day 2

Enjoy Michele Levin's "Quintet for Bassoon and Strings" and Johannes Brahms' "Piano Quartet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 26 ". Performed by: Kathleen Reynolds, Peter Zazofsky, Leqing Wang, Mark Berger, Andrew Mark, and Michele Levin.

In the Spirit of Angels
Director Notes
In August 2001, I began to choreograph to music by
American composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk. The
energetic music was a great inspiration. The story line
and characters grew from the choreography and
dancers themselves. The scattered ideas I had were transformed into a story with the talents of
professional storyteller, Rhonda Belyea, who narrated the first 2 versions.
After the events of September 11th, 2001, we dedicated
the ballet as a tribute to America – its HOPE, OPTIMISM
and SPIRIT OF CARING. Today, the same HOPE,
OPTIMISM and CARING FOR ONE ANOTHER is as
important as it was 25 years ago!
The ballet was restaged and performed in 2016, 2018 and
again in 2025.

Virginia Bolena's current passion is studying and promoting the underperformed works of female composers. Enjoy this performance of women organ composers by a renowned organist.

Experience the grandeur and heart of Broadway as André and Natalie present an unforgettable evening of celebrated musical theater classics at the historic Presbyterian Church of Fredericksburg. Featuring beloved solos and powerful duets that span generations of the American stage, this dynamic program captures the drama, romance, humor, and soaring emotion that define Broadway at its very best.

From sweeping classics like “Old Man River” and “Some Enchanted Evening” to the inspiring anthem “Wheels of a Dream,” alongside vibrant showstoppers and selections from Ain’t Misbehavin’ and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the evening promises passion, personality, and theatrical brilliance.

With elegant piano accompaniment and compelling storytelling through song, this is more than a concert — it’s a Broadway experience you won’t want to miss.

May 23, André & Natalie Rascoe, "The Beautiful Boundaries of Broadway"

The Beltway Brass Quintet is a project group led by Zachary Smith of the nationally acclaimed Mardi Gras Kings.  The members of the quintet reside in the Washington, D.C. area and quite frequently spend hours slogging around I-495, D.C.’s infamous beltway. It was on this stretch of highway that the idea for the Beltway Brass was conceived in 2003. The repertoire for the quintet is unusual in its emphasis on Twentieth Century jazz harmonies and stylings. Each player in the ensemble has a background in both commercial and classical performance.  Zachary Smith and Chas Peterson have written most of the arrangements for the group--many of which can be heard on their four CD's.
