Beginner Survival: Foundations Level I
Have you ever wondered if you could survive off the grid? Come spend the day in the woods learning the tricks for wilderness survival.
Beginner Survival is the starting point for our hands-on outdoor survival program, where participants build confidence outdoors through games, challenges, teamwork, and real-world survival skills. Throughout the day, participants may practice navigation, shelter building, fire-starting, knot tying, outdoor awareness, and other foundational wilderness skills through active, movement-based activities and group problem-solving.
These sessions are designed to be fun, engaging, and supportive while helping participants develop practical outdoor knowledge and confidence in nature.
Friday, June 26th - Beginner Survival: Foundations I
Learn the essentials of outdoor survival through hands-on exploration and active challenges. Participants will be introduced to foundational skills such as navigation, shelter awareness, fire-building concepts, knot work, and understanding basic needs in a wilderness setting. This session builds confidence and curiosity while preparing students for more advanced experiences.
This program runs from 9:30am-2:30pm and will meet in St. Francis Hall in the main CEC Neu Building. (see map below)
This program is open to anyone 9-16 years old. Please note: we do not make exceptions to the minimum age requirement.
Completion of Foundations Level I allows for enrollment in Foundations Level II. If you are signed up to take Level I this summer, you can sign up for Level II for a later date this same summer.
Beginner Survival: Foundations Levels I & II are pre-requisites for any Advanced Survival Camps. Anyone who has previously completed Survival Levels 1 & 2 has met this requirement.
You may register for an Advanced Survival Camp as long as you are on track to complete both beginner levels prior to the advanced camp date.
