The Texas Exes Houston Chapter is partnering with the Texas Exes Galveston Bay Area Chapter for the 2026 Texas Adopt-A-Beach Spring Cleanup (a bi-annual Texas coast-wide beach cleanup)—celebrating Earth Day weekend AND 40 years of keeping our coast beautiful!

Join fellow Longhorns for a morning of service on Galveston Island, then stick around for lunch and beach time!

Day-of Details:

  • Check-in: 8:30-9:00 AM. Chapter representatives will check in our entire group and collect supplies from Adopt-A-Beach. Texas Exes volunteers do not wait in the main check-in line. Instead, please gather together, and a chapter representative will pass out supplies and instructions to our group.
  • Cleanup: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, we will cross the street to the beach and
  • Optional Post-Cleanup Lunch: The Spot, just a ten-minute/half-mile walk from Menard Park. (reserved seating being arranged!)
  • Optional Post-Cleanup/Lunch Beach day: Beach afternoon for those who want to stay!

Let's celebrate Earth Day by showing our Texas coast some Longhorn love—then refuel with good food and good company! 🤘🌊🌍

Agenda

-

Check-In

Chapter representatives will check in our group to avoid each volunteer from having to check in. Please gather together at the park, and chapter representatives will distribute our supplies and instructions.

-

Beach Clean up

Head across the street to the beach, and let's pick up some trash! Large trash as well as small plastic pieces - truly anything that does not belong on the beach. Please bring a hat and sunscreen to protect your skin. Water/electrolytes are also encouraged.

-

Lunch at The Spot

We'll have worked up an appetite, so let's head to a Galveston classic - The Spot for lunch. Volunteers can order their lunch at the counter and find open seating. The Spot is roughly a ten- minute half-mile walk from our check-in spot at Menard Park.
