2026 Annual Mtg: The Hidden Record: AI, Surveillance & The Modern Courtroom
Join WLAM Wayne at TechTown Detroit for our 2026 Annual Meeting - The Hidden Record: AI Surveillance & The Modern Courtroom
Close out the year with WLAM Wayne Region’s final signature event: an evening at the intersection of innovation, recognition, and community.
The program will include a panel discussion on today’s most pressing legal issues, followed by an award ceremony recognizing scholarship recipients, honoring leaders in the field, and swearing in our incoming Board. Attendees will have dedicated time to network with judges, attorneys, and fellow professionals.
All proceeds support WLAM’s mission and its ongoing commitment to advancing women through scholarship and opportunity.
ABOUT THE PANEL:
Technology now captures nearly every aspect of daily life, and artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming how that data is collected, analyzed, and used. From digital warrants to cloud storage and AI-generated content, privately owned information is routinely accessed through subpoenas and data-sharing agreements, raising urgent questions about privacy and the Fourth Amendment.
As AI use becomes inevitable in legal practice, attorneys must understand not only how data is obtained but how their own tools may create risk. Join the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Wayne Region for a timely conversation on AI-driven surveillance, subpoenaable digital evidence, and the realities of modern discovery. The program will also include practical “AI hygiene” guidance, offering concrete steps attorneys can take to evaluate software terms, data retention policies, and confidentiality risks in their own practices.
Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of how AI is reshaping privacy, power, and evidentiary strategy, and with practical steps to protect their clients and their practices in an increasingly automated and data-driven legal landscape.
