New Media Performance Pt. II

The Every Woman Biennial engages women and non-binary artists, through a democratic open call, to cross-pollinate with each other from a variety of mediums,  generations, and racial and ethnic backgrounds. The salon-style exhibition features painting, photography, installation, sculpture, video art, textile, and multimedia works, activated by performance, dance, music, poetry readings, theater, and film. 2024 marks its 10th year in existance and its 5th iteration.The Every Woman Biennial 2024 edition "I Will Always Love You" will feature over 200 women and non-binary artists in a salon-style art exhibition at La MaMa Galleria. In addition to the gallery show, we offer performances, readings, and community programming at LaMama Galleria.

We close out this year’s biennial with  new media performances by and  Nina Sobell, Naz Karagöz, and Nanae Itoi & Kanami Kusajima.

Sobell, a pioneer in integrating EEG technology into art, has spent decades investigating the boundaries of communication and consciousness.<a href="https://www.instagram.com/duality.live" title="https://www.instagram.com/duality.live" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Naz Karagöz’s </a>Mind Simulator combines projection mapping, live sound processing, Turkish improvisational singing, and AI-generated videos to investigate themes of alienation, culture, and the mechanics of perception. Karagöz, a multidisciplinary artist, uses technology to create simulations that challenge perceptions of reality and identity. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/nanae_itoi/" title="https://www.instagram.com/nanae_itoi/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nanae Itoi’s </a>Self Poppers examines self-reflection through playful absurdity, using interactive technology to create a dynamic dialogue between the dancer’s movements and real-time visual and audio responses. Itoi, a Japanese mixed-media artist, merges traditional practices like sumi-e painting with cutting-edge technologies to explore impermanence and transformation.&nbsp;
