FUNK FOR FUNDS: A GROW Windham Fundraiser Event
Solgyres & Brown’s Road Band unite to raise funds for GROW Windham's non-profit mission!
🌱🎶 GROWING COMMUNITY – A Night of Music for GROW Windham! 🎶🌱
(PLEASE NOTE OUR BAR WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR THIS EVENT - we will be serving refreshments for a suggested donation)
Join us on Saturday, March 21st at The River Room (50 Riverside Drive, Willimantic) for a powerful night of live music, community, and purpose! Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the show kicks off at 7:30 PM. This special evening is jointly produced by The River Room and GROW Windham to raise funds in support of GROW Windham’s incredible grassroots work right here in our community!
Founded in 2011 through a collaboration between the Willimantic Food Co-op and the Town of Windham, GROW Windham has blossomed from three pilot gardens into a vibrant network of youth leadership, food justice, and community-building initiatives. From the Windham Youth CORE and Youth Network to the Lauter Park Community Gardens and partnerships like the Windham Youth Advocacy Collective, GROW Windham builds more than gardens — they build soil, trust, skills, and power. Their vision is bold and beautiful: a community where food system resources are sustainably produced, equitably distributed, and rooted in collective health and well-being.
The soundtrack for the evening? Two phenomenal bands bringing the energy:
🔥 Solgyres – A 10-piece solarpunk reggae powerhouse out of New Haven, blending roots reggae spirit, punk defiance, jazz influences, and lush harmonies into a revolutionary sound. With a 14-track debut album (featuring G. Love) and a growing New England following, Solgyres is pure, unstoppable momentum.
🔥 The Brown’s Road Band – A Connecticut/Massachusetts-based progressive psychedelic jazz-rock collective known for high-energy, genre-bending performances. Expect improvisation, groove-heavy jams, and inspired nods to legends like the Grateful Dead and Jaco Pastorius.
Come dance. Come connect. Come invest in a stronger, healthier Windham.
🎟️ Proceeds from this event directly benefit GROW Windham’s non-profit mission and their ongoing work cultivating youth leadership and food justice in our region.
Let’s grow something powerful together. 🌶🌿✨
