OHC26: Nåd Store [Talk]
Join a conversation with designer Joanne Stoker as part of Open House Colombo 2026.
Housed within the iconic Senanayake Flats—originally designed by Sri Lanka’s pioneering female architect Minette de Silva—Nåd Store’s open design studio celebrates a union of architecture, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. Built as one of Colombo’s first social housing developments, these mid-century modern apartments stand as a quiet testament to de Silva’s belief in merging local materials, artisan craft, and tropical living.
Today, this reimagined apartment functions as the creative home of Nåd Store Sri Lanka, a sustainable fashion and lifestyle label by British designer Joanne Stoker. The light-filled studio serves as both a working atelier and collaborative hub where sketches, textiles, and prototypes are created alongside local artisans.
Join designer Joanne Stoker for an informal talk and conversation about her work and creative process in Sri Lanka. Drawing inspiration from Colombo’s architectural landscape and the pioneering women who shaped it, Joanne explores how form, structure, and space influence her approach to pattern cutting, silhouette design, and craft techniques. This relaxed session invites visitors to engage with her collections, discover how architectural principles translate into fabric and form, and gain insight into how fashion and architecture intertwine within the island’s evolving design narrative.
