Overview

Visit the ApiHappi handloom workshop in Nawala as part of Open House Colombo 2026.

ApiHappi is a vibrant Sri Lankan design brand specialising in ergonomically shaped beanbags. Continuing Sri Lanka’s rich textile heritage, ApiHappi uses hand-woven cotton produced on traditional wooden looms. Founded by fashion designer Aparna Samarakoon and entrepreneur Etosha Lankatilleke, ApiHappi beanbags and butterfly chairs are meticulously crafted to bring together bold design, comfort, and artisanal craftsmanship.

Located in a residential neighbourhood, the ApiHappi team converted a four-bedroom house into a hub of creativity and production. Where once there were bedrooms and family spaces, visitors will find an airy lounge, fabric-cutting room, and design studio.

Founded in 2014, ApiHappi is now internationally recognised for its fresh perspective on slow-fashion and home-furnishing design, bringing together heritage textile techniques with contemporary lifestyle needs. Their workshop is a creative space brimming with joy and fun.
