Overview

Visit fashion designer Amesh Wijesekera's studio as part of Open House Colombo 2026.

Amesh Wijesekera is a fashion designer and founder of the AMESH label. His work draws inspiration from Sri Lankan heritage, childhood memories, and the island’s multicultural landscapes. Wijesekera’s work blends contemporary design thinking and artisanal techniques to reimagine South Asian beauty and identity, while exploring themes of gender expression and youth culture.

The first Sri Lankan designer nominated for the prestigious LVMH Prize in Paris in 2022, Wijesekera’s designs have been showcased in London, Berlin, Paris, Tbilisi, Delhi, and Dhaka.

Wijesekera returned to his ancestral home in Mount Lavinia from Europe to be closer to his collaborators, material sources, and inspiration. The house showcases the collaborative influence of various family members, including his grandmother, whose art collection adorns the walls. Visitors will be guided through the home and studio by Amesh, who will discuss his work, recent changes to the house, and the influences of living in a multicultural neighbourhood.

This homestudio is situated in Mount Lavinia. The precise address and directions will be provided directly to registered participants on Saturday, 7th March at 10 am.
