Nature Journaling with The Scrib @ Black Star Canyon
Get creative while spending time in nature!
Interested in learning about and connecting with our local wildlands? Join Ritika and Chrystene, ecologists and creatives from The Scrib, for a Nature Journaling Hike, where we’ll enjoy the spring season and make thoughtful observations through a creative lens. Nature journaling is a wonderful tool to connect with yourself and the world around you while practicing creativity and creating a memento of your time outdoors.
For this activity, please wear comfortable closed toed shoes, layers for changing temperatures, and sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses). Each person should bring 1 liter (½ gallon) of water, personal medications (epipen, inhaler, etc.), and snacks. All materials are provided courtesy of Blick Art Supplies, just bring something to sit on!
Materials provided include the following:
- Watercolor Paper
- Watercolor Pans / Pencils
- Clipboard
- Brushes
- Water Jar
This is a moderate hike, with breaks for nature journaling activities and ecological learning opportunities. The trail is dog friendly trail: dogs must be on leash, and you are responsible for your own safety and anyone you bring. Please don’t attend if you are feeling unwell; masks are always welcome. Photos and videos will be taken during the activity (let us know if you’d prefer not to be photographed).
Hiking Distance : 2.5 miles
Recommended Ages : 8yrs+ (Children under 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian)
This event is hosted by Naturalist for You/Save Orange Hills and The Scrib. This event is not affiliated with OC Parks. For more information, contact Joanne at The Scrib.
