Concerts on the Slope presents: Butterflies and Ghosts
We wrap up our season with a set of songs by Tim Mukherjee, Clarice Assad’s ‘Chronicles of Ghosts’, and Mendelssohn’s Quartet in f minor.
Wrapping up our season is bittersweet, and so is this program. We begin with Clarice Assad’s Chronicles of Ghosts, a set of songs for quartet and voice exploring the worlds of Grace O’Malley and Anne Hutchinson, two significant female figures of the 16th and 17th centuries, then we follow that with So ist mein Herz, a set of songs to the text of Hermann Hesse by friend of the series, Tim Mukherjee. We then wrap up our season with the last, and most tragic of Mendelssohn’s works, his Quartet in f minor, written in the tormented aftermath of his beloved sister Fannie’s death.
Giancarlo Latta, Theo Espy, violins; Liuh-Wen Ting, viola; Benjamin Larsen, cello; Katherine Lerner-Lee, voice; Fifi Zhang, piano
