Overview

Boulder's 2nd annual Modern Jazz & Soul Fest: 2 days, 10 bands, blending jazz, soul & improvisation with top national, regional & youth acts

The Modern Jazz & Soul Fest is Roots Music Project’s second annual celebration of forward-thinking jazz, soul, and contemporary improvisational music, created to fill a long-standing gap in Boulder’s live music landscape. While the region embraces roots traditions, opportunities to experience modern jazz and genre-blending soul at a high level have been limited. This festival positions Boulder as a destination for cutting-edge musicianship while remaining deeply community-centered.

Over two days, the festival presents five bands each day, with alternating sets on our main and side stages to create a continuous, immersive audience experience. The lineup blends nationally recognized artists, standout regional performers, and emerging youth talent, with intentional programming that highlights female-fronted acts and BIPOC artists.

Friday night’s headliner features Isaac Sinclair presents WayBack, led by Isaac Teal of the nationally touring band TAUK. Known for his powerful vocals and dynamic stage presence, Teal brings a fresh yet rooted approach to soul and improvisational music. Friday’s lineup also includes ManyColors, Trusetto, Riley J Band, and the Leo LeGault Quartet, a featured ensemble from RMP’s TEMPO youth training program showcasing Boulder’s next generation of jazz artists.

Saturday culminates with The Adam Deitch Electric 4, led by internationally respected drummer and producer Adam Deitch. For this performance, Deitch assembles an all-star group featuring Parris Fleming, Will Gaines, and Emmanuel Alexander. Additional Saturday artists include Sean Applebee & Beyond, Corner 3, J-Calvin, and Halle Tomlinson, representing a diverse cross-section of modern soul, jazz, and Latin-influenced sounds.

Doors 6:00pm. Show 6:30pm

Full bar on premises; Plenty of free parking; Lyft and Uber friendly!
